Local option election stirs up confusion among voters Getting the local option to vote on beer, wine and mixed drink sales on the ballot in Sweeny has been a long and confusing road. Now the Brazoria County Commissioners Court has called the election, but the confusion will likely continue all the way until the last vote is cast. There will be three options on the ballot for those who live in the boundaries of the former Justice of the Peace Precinct 5 (see map). more Woman attacked in WC A 78-year-old West Columbia woman was sexually assaulted by a stranger she let inside to use the phone, police said. West Columbia Detective Curtis Wulf said the woman told police the man knocked on her door in the 600 block of Alamo Street at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday night and asked to use the phone.
